about
I was sitting in my kitchen here in Reykjavik one morning when I suddenly heard a violin play... I could hear this was a masterly skilled performer, playing with gorgeous tone and melodic phrasing, sensitive but bold. I immediately got very excited when I realised this was coming from the small apartment attached to my house. I ran outside and knocked on the door to see who it was that was sprinkling all this fairy dust.
When the door opened, to my surprise it was my old friend Ari Vilhjálmsson. Ari had just landed from Tel Aviv, and happened to stay in the apartment next door to mine. I asked him immediately — 'do you want to come into my studio tomorrow and record some pieces for the violin with me?'. And he said yes! I returned home and because I hadn't written anything yet, I went straight to my desk and piano and wrote Dolorem. We then orchestrated and recorded it with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the hands of conductor Daníel Bjarnason, and I'm very excited to be able to share this piece with you. — Högni Egilsson, May 2023
All the Ep is a perfect mixture of rithm and pathos. I love how the two musicians mix in a sort of alchemy.
I hope I can listen you two live in Italy! lereddia
() by Sigur Rós is my first introduction to the genre of Post Rock. I remember vividly as a kid watching Vanilla Sky's ending, as he takes a leap of faith to wake up from the terrible nightmare he has been experiencing. It was a genius idea to incorporate the Untitled 4 track from this album also known as "Njósnavélin" to convey the correct emotions to the viewers of the movie. () is Sigur Rós most melancholic album to date in my opinion.
